Arash Sadeghi, 33 is a jailed student’s rights and a human rights activist in Iran. He is now in prison serving 19 years. Arash has been on hunger strike for 48 days. He went on hunger strike on 24th October 2016 protesting against the unfair sentence and court process of his wife Golrokh Ebrahimi. His life is in a grave danger. Please take an action NOW.
Arash’s wife, Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee who is a human rights activist, is now in prison serving six years prison sentence.
Golrokh has recently sent a letter from prison addressing Arash and also the human rights organisation saying: “I humbly demand all human rights organizations to take action against the gradual death of my husband in jail”
Her letter is as follow:
“Freedom fighters are martyrs of history and their struggle is never restrained. Amid the difficulties we are going through, we are getting stronger day by day. With every breath, we are getting one step closer to the day of freedom that we tolerated the time of our separation from each other. You[Arash] are confronted by death, a little away from me, behind the brick walls in the prison and I do not have any news of you. I feel my endless love for you and I believe more than ever that you are my pride. We have been treated unjustly, but you want to sacrifice your life for freedom. Certainly we will see the day we are impatiently waiting for. You must stay alive to see enthusiastically the shining day of freedom. My dear Arash, I praise your resistance. Your life is as dear to me as freedom is. You have to stay alive.
To the international human rights bodies:
It has been more than a month that my husband, Arash Sadeghi, has been on hunger strike in Evin Prison. His physical condition has been deteriorating quickly. His blood pressure is very low. However there has been no reaction from the prison authorities. I was sentenced to six years in jail without any reason. The main reason for my imprisonment was to put pressure on my husband. My husband’s hunger strike is about my unfair detention by Ward 2-A controlled by the Revolutionary Guards and investigation by Saralleh’s Base. My husband has been sentenced to 19 years in prison. He has been on a hunger strike to protest against injustice done in our case. The prosecutors in our case are already aware of the injustice done, however, they do not have the ability to take action. The judiciary that have a claim of working independently has not shown any reaction to violations done by the Revolutionary Guards. The Judiciary Branch, Supreme Court and the Revolutionary Guard are responsible for my husband’s life if he dies in their custody.
I humbly demand all human rights organizations to take action against the gradual death of my husband in jail.
Golrokh Ebrahimi Eraeei (Wife of Arash Sadeghi) “
